NEWS AND EVENTS FOR WEEK ENDING JUNE 12th, 2010
After much deliberation the staff has decided that it would be best to end the year a little early as far as practices and performances due to the high number of members that are not able to participate during the summer. This is rather normal from year to year but we thought we would see if there would be interest this year. Henceforth there will be no more regular practices or performances for the rest of the season with three exceptions
- The Performance for tomorrow at Positive Growth Inc. will still go on as planned
- The End of they year and Anniversary party on July 11th will still go on as planned
- Individual sectional offer explained below is still valid
Rather then continue to have nominal attendance at practices and not have enough people perform the staff thinks it's better to end on a high note then to waste your time and efforts in getting to practice and it not be a success. We all love CREAM of course but we do realize it is a big sacrifice for all concerned and there are numerous ways we could spend that time. We hope you agree with us that this is the best course to take.
NEXT PERFORMANCE
There will be no practice today (Friday) as previously speculated. Our next performance will be tomorrow June 12 for the Positive Growth Inc. Annual Family Fun Day. We are the main attraction. If you can not attend please respond to this email in writing to let me know. We will meet at 11:30pm for a short practice and will perform at 1pm. This is an all day outside affair and from what I understand we are the only entertainment. There will be free food and drinks so bring the family if you like. We will probably only have half the line present so if you have committed to this it is important that you follow through We should be completed by 1:30-2:00pm. You can reach there best by traveling north on I285 passing the memorial drive exit and getting off at Church street and taking a left. KEEP YOUR CHOPS UP
If you are interested in getting specialized sectional instruction then C.R.E.A.M. will bring in and pay for instructors for this. Depending on the section and level of interest the instructors will be advanced past Alumni, college instructors or C.R.EA.M. instructors or a combo I will bring in almost anybody from Tim Green from SCSU to George Hunt of JCSU to Mr. Greg Jackson from Alabama State for Melodic percussion. (provided they are available) The mini sectional clinics will be held at days and times agreed upon on a section by section basis. I will pay for any section that shows a MAJORITY INTEREST. (ex. 4 out of 6 quints). You can now have the chance to get 4-5 hours of nothing but high level instruction for quints..or cymbals...or tenor..etc. Uninterrupted!!!
This offer is open to every section from Cymbals to Bass. Even if your trying to move to an instrument that you currently don't play for C.R.E.A.M. or your school band you may come to that sectional. I want you guys to keep you skills up over the summer break and excel when band season starts in the fall. In order to do that you have to go above and beyond what everybody else is doing. You don't get a vacation from mediocrity.
YOUR DUES MUST BE PAID IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EXTRA INSTRUCTION
This offer is open to your friends that are not members of C.R.E.A.M. provided your BRING them as your guest and C.R.E.A.M. will pay for multiple mini sectional clinics as long as there is interest and you show up.
Somebody from each section needs to organize and find out the interest level and a spokesperson needs to contact me with dates and time you want your sectional(s).
C.R.E.A.M. 8 YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND YEAR END CELEBRATION
Our year end program will be held on July 11th. We are expecting over 150 former members to return for this. The current line is scheduled to play for the last time this season. We will be charging a small fee for the expense involved with this. A sign up form will go out early next week so stay tuned.
INSTRUMENTS AND NEXT YEAR
You are responsible for returning your instruments back to us. They will be due back by July 11th after the year end program. If you know you won't attend please contact me to arrange for the return of all C.R.E.A.M. equipment.
There will be quite a few changes next year for membership requirements. It will be much harder get in as we are raising the bar another level. We will start in October of this year for our 9th season. I will send out more details on the changes a little later.
DUES AND FEES
They are not going away folk. If you owe due or fees from these past trips please remit them ASAP. If you are unsure if you owe anything please contact me. If you have outstanding dues from this year you will not be allowed to rejoin C.R.E.A.M. next year.
